The third generation
Since 1955, our family-owned factory, Durinders Rostfria, in Eskilstuna has made this box from Swedish stainless steel sourced from local producers. We use the same machines today as we did at the beginning, and every box is made with the greatest care and given the love it deserves. Our ambition is to contribute to a plastic-free society without compromising on design, and to offer the market true craftsmanship that lasts year after year. Every box is made with a generous portion of love, and we want that warmth to run through the business at every level.

The first box
A sheet-metal workshop starts pressing lunch boxes for the men at the sawmill.

Stainless steel
Tin gives way to stainless steel. The shape settles into the one we still make.

The second generation
The founder's son takes over the press and refuses every offer to move production.

Still one product
Catalogues come and go. The workshop declines to add a second box.

Craftsmanship
Nine steps, one pair of hands, no shortcuts worth taking.
The steel
A single sheet of food-grade stainless, cut to a pattern drawn in 1948.
The press
The body is drawn in one stroke on a machine older than anyone using it.
The hand work
Seams are folded, edges are rolled and the surface is polished by hand.
The mark
The maker stamps the inside of the lid before the box leaves the bench.
